The team of the Youth Center – Vratsa was from 24 to 27 of September at the European Youth Center in Strasbourg, together with colleagues from the Youth Center – Montana, the International Youth Center – Pernik and the International Youth Center – Burgas . On the first day of our stay, we learned about the history of the youth movement in Europe and how the Center in Strasbourg was created. We talked about the efforts made by the Council of Europe for the development of the youth sector, as well as their role in setting new trends and standards in working with young people. We talked with the finance department about the approaches behind creating and spending the budget, and in the afternoon we had an exciting tour of the European Youth Center in Strasbourg, sharing their good practices regarding base development and their commitment to environmental protection and the promotion of ecological culture.

If you thought that day was exciting, the second one left us speechless! In the morning, the training department of the Center introduced us to the philosophy and methods they use in creating their educational programs. They told us about their campaigns “Democracy Here. Democracy Now.” and “Youth Revitalizing Democracy”. Then Gordana Berjan, Director of the European Youth Foundation introduced us to the Council of Europe’s Quality Standards for Youth Centres. The best part was left for the afternoon, namely the visit to the Council of Europe.

The visit to the Youth Center in Strasbourg is part of the activities under Project BGLD – 1.003 – 0004 “Youth Center Vratsa – a factor for the development of the Northwest”, financed through the Financial Mechanism of the EEA 2014-2021.
