On the occasion of the upcoming International volunteer day – 5 of December, the Main directorate “Fire safety and protection of the population” at the Ministry of internal affairs and the National association of volunteers in the Republic of Bulgaria in partnership with the Ministry of education and science and the Ministry of youth and sports are organizing a competition to craft an essay. It is on the theme “Volunteering, an act of solidarity in the fight against disasters and fires”. The aim of this initiative is to popularize the activities of voluntary formations for the prevention or control of disasters, fires and other emergency situations, among civil society and more specifically among the youth.

The competition is aimed at young people between the ages of 16 and 18.

In order for young people to participate in the contest, they must send their essays on the topic to e-mail: esedobrovolci@gmail.com by 5 of December, 2022. Participants must enter in the submitted essay: their three names, years of age, place of residence , school, class, email address and contact phone number.

The requirements for the essay are as follows: it must correspond to the topic of the competition; to be written in Bulgarian; to be up to 3 pages, format – doc or docx (Word 97-2010), font – Times New Roman/12, line spacing – 1.5.

A committee will evaluate all essays received by the deadline and select the three best essays. The winners will be announced on 19.01.2023, and the awards will be presented at the annual “Firefighter of the year” competition. The publication of the winners will be on the website of the National association of volunteers in the Republic of Bulgaria www.navrb.bg.
